The Goals.
Johnson & Johnson‘s (J&J) long and proud history of supporting military service members dates back to the Spanish-American War in 1898, when the company held positions for employees and paid their salaries while they served. Their CEO, a West Point graduate and Army veteran, wanted to launch an employee engagement campaign to connect their U.S. domestic offices with their Veteran Network, a corporate initiative to support military veterans through donations, volunteerism, and employment. The needed a nonprofit partner, and a big idea.
The Work.
EMME Solutions connected J&J with Travis Manion Foundation, a nonprofit who empowers veterans and the families of fallen heroes. The employee engagement project combined an employee event, integrated tv & digital content on social media, and public relations to tell the stories of military veteran resilience and character in a production and sponsorship of a public facing campaign that gave employees worldwide something to connect with and share with their networks. J&J became a Presenting Partner of the Travis Manion Foundation’s (TMF) “Character Does Matter” program. The program creates and inspires the next generation of future leaders to serve, directly impacting their local communities while carrying on the legacies of our nation’s Fallen Heroes. Ambassadors, comprised of veterans and families of fallen service members – inspire tens of thousands of young people to demonstrate character by exhibiting courage, integrity, leadership and service in their everyday lives. J&J also supported the TMF’s 9/11 Heroes Runs, during which 50% of the proceeds made benefit military personnel and first responders in the community.
